A new community centre in Borehamwood opens its doors tomorrow.

The centre, at 96 Shenley Road, will offer a library across three floors, a new-look museum, support service Youth Connexions, and community rooms and areas for hire.

The museum will showcase Elstree and Borehamwood's history and film heritage, photographic collections and next year will be home to an exhibition celebrating 100 Years of Film History.

Meanwhile, the library will offer books, talking books and DVDs to borrow, free Wi-Fi, public computers, student study space and other activities.

Located next to All Saints Church, the new building is the result of a partnership between Hertfordshire County Council, Hertsmere Borough Council, Elstree and Borehamwood Town Council, and the church.

The centre will be run by Hertsmere Leisure, a local charitable trust, though it will have a phased opening until January 2, 2014, when it will be fully open.

Anyone interested in making a booking at 96 Shenley Road should email 96.Shenleyroad@hertsmereleisure.co.uk

After the centre opens, people will also be able to book by phoning 01442 454000 or by calling in at the centre during opening hours.
