Boreham Wood finally get the chance to do battle with Barrow on Saturday after three postponements, the most recent being in midweek, have put paid to the away tie taking place.

Barrow have come through three very tough ties at Holker Street, hosting National League leaders Cheltenham Town, second-placed Forest Green Rovers and play-off hopefuls Gateshead.

Fortress Holker Street, where the Bluebirds have lost just four games all season, survived well during that run as Paul Cox’s side picked up a point from the Tynesiders, lost by the odd goal to Cheltenham Town and came from two goals down to earn a point against Forest Green.

Both sides have identical records over the last ten games, winning three and losing three apiece.

The visitors are four points better off than Wood in the table in 17th place – six points above the drop zone and, importantly, with a game in hand over Wood.

So, who are Barrow AFC?

The Bluebirds spent over 50 years in the Football League until 1972, with two of those seasons in the old Division Three.

Since then they have found themselves in the National League, or its equivalent, on five occasions.

They were victorious in the FA Trophy in 2010, beating the already crowned Conference Champions Stevenage Borough 2-1 after extra time.

Barrow are the only side to lift the Trophy at both the old and new Wembley, having beaten Leek Town 3-0 under the twin towers in 1990.

Manager Cox lifted the National League trophy when in charge of Mansfield Town in the 2012/13 season.

He was then appointed at cash-strapped Torquay United earlier this season before making the move to Cumbria.

Cox has just bolstered his defence with the loan signing of Wycombe Wanderers defender Danny Rowe.

For Wood this will be influential attacking winger Anthony Jeffrey's last appearance at Meadow Park before he joins up with his new team mates at Forest Green Rovers.
