Boreham Wood travel to Hampshire this weekend in the latest round of Blue Square Bet South matches.

They face struggling Farnborough and should be refreshed after not playing last week.

This match last season was crucial in Wood’s revival. They were fighting a relegation scrap whilst Boro were vying for the playoffs, and a goal from Elliot Godfrey ensured victory and started the turnaround.

After Farnborough’s success last year – finishing second and reaching the play-off final – there were major changes during the summer with the club turning full time.

As a result they released many players with Ian Allinson’s side signing up three of them.

Michael Jordan, Osei Sankofa and Daryl McMahon all played vital roles in Boro’s campaign last year but they have swapped Hampshire for Hertfordshire and could face their former club for the first time.

However it hasn’t been the season they wanted as Farnborough find themselves 18th in the table and have the worst defence in the league. They have conceded 50 goals in just 23 games so Boreham Wood will be looking to capitalise.

Neither side haven’t been in the best of form recently. Wood drew 1-1 with Sutton United in a match they should have won and then had their game abandoned after going ahead to the same team just days later.

Farnborough put in a determined performance against league leaders Woking on Boxing Day and New Years Day but lost both games 1-0.

Wood are currently five places above their opponents but a win would see their points total increase to 35 and they could move up to tenth depending on other results.

Boreham Wood Reserves maintained their good form with a 3-0 win away at Sutton United.

It was their first game back after Christmas and it took just half an hour for them to open the scoring through Simeon Akinola.

Wood continued to pressure the Sutton defence in the second half but couldn’t find a breakthrough until late on.

Two good finishes from Charlie Hunter put the game out of sight for the home side. The Reserves are playing well at the moment having won three and drawn one in their last four games.

The club have also announced the trial dates for the 2012/13 admission to the PASE scheme.

The club have already produced seven youth internationals with one of them, Pelly Ruddock, being signed up by West Ham United.

If you would like a trial application forms can be found by logging on to the club website.

The first trial date is February 15th at the club with registration at 10.30. Any other information is available online.
