It was a week of mixed fortunes for Borehamwood Bowls Club in the Watford and District League.

They began with a loss to Abbots Langley, 64-49, however one of their three rinks did manage to gain a draw.

Skippered by Eric Swain, the rink of Mark Parkin, Phil Belchak and John Seal managed to tie at 20-20.

The ladies friendly rink of Lesley Martin, Ivy Earles and Joyce Wrigley, skipped by Doris Edwards, gained an emphatic win by 25-8.

However the club did secure only their second win of the season, away to Oxhey, by 54 shots to 51.

An influx of young new bowlers helped the side, and John Jennings, Tony Parker and Seal, skipped by Keith Muir, won their rink 21-16, while Ken Wood, Arthur Muir and Dave Mooring, skipped by John Roe, drew 19-19.

The ladies team of Jacqui Seal, Wrigley and Earles skipped by Jean Parker, also drew their rink by the same scoreline.
