Jack Reilly was the star of Tabard on Saturday, inspiring his side to a 17-5 win over Imperial Medicals.
Reilly not only scored 12 points with his kicking - two penalties and two drop goals - but also used his tactical kicking to great advantage.
The game was an exciting one to watch, with both teams displaying different styles.
The Medics were young and keen to throw the ball about at every opportunity, while Tabard were more traditional in trying to achieve mastery up front and setting up probing attacks. Imperial Medicals opened the scoring after 23 minutes, but, just on half-time, Tabard were able to get their first points on the board, when Reilly kicked a long penalty.
Tabard then scored right at the start of the second half, flanker Ashley Hall going over near the corner for a good try. Although Reilly saw the conversion go just wide, this was the spur that Tabard needed and they started to apply a lot of pressure on their opponents. Firstly, Reilly converted another penalty and then two long drop goals gave the visitors the points.
Tabard travel to to UCS Old Boys this Saturday.
