The most iconic symbol of the Games will shine brightly this weekend.

The Olympic flame arrives in St Albans on Sunday, July 8, at around 4pm, and will be carried by fourteen torch bearers aged between 12 and 80.

They will carry the flame along the length of Hatfield Road from its junction with Charlotte Close (near Oaklands College, Smallford Campus).

The torch route continues across St Peter’s Street into Catherine Street, along Folly Lane, joining Verulam Road before finishing near the Batchwood roundabout.

There will be numerous activities for spectators to enjoy along the course, including music, face painting and Play in the Parks at Fleetville and Oysterfields recreation grounds.

Clarence Park, with St Albans City Youth Football Club, and Victoria Playing Fields are also hosting events.

Hatfield Road Methodist Church, St Paul’s Church and St Peter’s Church will also have activities for all ages to enjoy.
