A teenager is "delighted" after finding out he will be one of the youngest volunteers helping out at the Olympic Games.

David Minn, 18, from Oakwood Avenue, Borehamwood, has been chosen as one of 70,000 Games Makers at the London Olympics 2012.

He is believed to be one of the youngest volunteers, as applicants had to be aged 18 by December 31, 2011.

David, who has just finished his A Levels at the Jewish Free School in Kingsbury, Harrow, only turned 18 on December 16.

Out of the 240,000 that applied for the roles, David was called back for an interview and subsequently offered a role in ticketing.

David will help people to the correct queues and give directions in the Olympic hockey arena, for nine days out of the two weeks.

He said: “I wanted to get involved in the Olympics as I think there will be a great atmosphere there. I also think it’s a great opportunity to get to know new and interesting people.

“I was delighted to be chosen, but I really didn’t expect it at all.”

David was also chosen to feature in the London 2012 Games Maker adverts.

He said: “I walked past my one in Euston Station this week. That was a big shock.”
