MATURE residents in Elstree and Borehamwood are being offered a wider choice of destinations this year with the town council's annually subsidised coach trips.

The ever-popular outings for over 60s will offer favourite seaside destinations and cultural outings to London and beyond.

The Elstree & Borehamwood Town Council's events coordinator, Ash Tadjrishi, hopes these new places will prove a popular addition to the schedule.

He said: “Whilst we enjoy being able to help our more mature residents with affordable days out to seaside destinations such as Bournemouth, Southend and Clacton, it’s always nice to be able to offer something different too.

“To be taken directly to the centre of London to browse the beautiful museums for only £6 return represents great value and convenience for those that may find the thought of negotiating train and tube off-putting.

“There are 12 trips in total and they always sell out, so we advise those wishing to make the most of the offer to come and buy their ticket as soon as possible. We’ve already had enquiries about the jaunt to Norwich on market day coinciding with the Lord Mayor’s Show.”

Tickets go on sale from Monday and cost £6. They are available to buy from the town council office at Fairway Hall, in Brook Close, weekdays from 9am to midday.

Trips are limited to over 60s living in Elstree and Borehamwood, so anyone buying a ticket must provide proof of age and address.
