COUNTY Councillor and Borehamwood resident Alan Plancey was invited to Westminster Abbey for the royal wedding, here he shares he thoughts on the ceremony.
Cllr Plancey (Conservative, Borehamwood North) writes: “England has once again shown the world how to organise a major event.
“The royal wedding combined pageantry with ceremonial dignity, which aroused a sense of pride in the hearts of millions throughout the world.
“As it was my privilege to have received an invitation from the Queen, I was able to witness an event that I will be able to relate to my grandchildren in years to come.
“Being present in the Abbey, I was able to experience an atmosphere of love and familial devotion which could not be fully appreciated from the television coverage.
“The institution of marriage was certainly given a Royal boost by the young couple who displayed their love for each other, and the regal manner in their composure.
“It was an honour and a privilege to have been at this once in a lifetime occasion which will surely confirmed by all who were present.”
