A MUSIC artist from Borehamwood is releasing a charity single to compete with X-Factor winner Matt Cardle for the coveted Christmas number one spot.

Icelandic-born Alda Olafsdottir of Milton Drive, known by her stage-name Alda, has created a dance tune called The Boobie Song which aims to raise money for charity and promote breast cancer awareness.

The “energetic” number is described as a tongue-in-cheek celebration of the beauty of women in a bid to highlight the issue among young people.

Alda said: “My aim is to try and reach a younger audience and also boys. A lot of people seem to think that this devastating disease only affects women and that is just not true, my best girlfriend's dad died from it.”

The performer added: “I wanted to do something different, most charity singles are very sad and depressing but I wanted to come from a different angle, and do something fun.

“At the end of the day we also need to celebrate all the cancer survivors so let's do that with a smile.”

All of the money raised by the song will go to Breakthrough Breast Cancer charity. Alda is hoping to secure £5000 by Christmas.

The Boobie Song was released yesterday and is available to buy on iTunes, Amazon, and other music download services. A video is also available to view on YouTube.
