Hertsmere MP James Clappison has welcomed the Government’s decision to scrap a proposed railfreight terminal near Radlett.
Communities and local government secretary Eric Pickles announced today that he has overturned the long-awaited result of a public inquiry, which had recommended the building of the controversial project.
Mr Clappison, who warned last year that the development would have a “catastrophic” impact on his constituents, said: “This is a victory for common sense and the Green Belt in Hertfordshire.
"The secretary of state has recognised the strength of the case against this proposal, which was quite simply in the wrong place.”
