Hertswoodstock, the inaugural school rock music festival, is coming.
Students at Borehamwood's only secondary school, Hertswood, are busy preparing for next Thursday's event.
Several rock banks auditioned last month for a place in the gig line-up at the school's lower site in Cowley Hill. Among the bands taking to the stage will be Chasing Stacey, Sixth Edition, Shotgun, London Town, Suicidal Dreams and Desert Penguins.
The rock festival was open to groups and individuals of all ages and the chosen bands will also be given the opportunity to record a CD of their songs at Hertswood's recording studio. The bands are also working with a newly appointed school music technician, who is a gigging musician with experience of the music business.
Hertswood has expanded its music department to cater for the school's burgeoning musical talent through visiting instrumental and voice coaches.
The rock festival has echoes of the annual Borehamwoodstock event which last year attracted 3,000 people to in Meadow Park for a rock, folk, blues and soul musical extravaganza.
It is hoped some of the school's young rock hopefuls could eventually go on to bigger and better things.
Tickets for the show, which is standing room only and starts at 7.30pm, are on sale priced £3.50 for adults and £2.50 for children and senior citizens. Call 020 8238 7252 for more details.
