Hampstead & Westminster Ladies 0
Harrow Ladies 6 (March 2)
A GOAL spree of five goals in the last 20 minutes, including a hat-trick by Kerri Lendon, was the key to Harrow Ladies 6-0 victory at Hampstead.
With Hampstead & Westminster struggling for points to avoid relegation this was never going to be a classic, and a bumpy and unpredictable pitch only added to what was a very scrappy first half.
Although well on top, Harrow found it difficult to play fluent hockey and when they did create scoring opportunities they found the Hampstead keeper in good form denying Lendon, Tasha Dyson and Katie Hockley in quick succession. Harrow's only reward for their superiority came from Dyson who slotted home from close range after a square pass from Hockley.
In the second half, it was Hampstead who took the initiative and it took several smart saves from Julie Fielder to keep Harrow in the game. Harrow also lost Simone Burns with a foot injury and were forced to reshuffle with Carys Thomas dropping into midfield.
Hampstead looked to have been given a lifeline when a penalty stroke was awarded for a foul by Lendon but Fielder came up with the goods to save comfortably. This save spurred Harrow into action and they moved into a comfortable 2-0 lead when Hockley, despite being fouled by two defenders, retained possession to crack her shot into the far corner.
Hampstead then fell apart. First Dyson reacted quickest as Lendon's shot hit the post, then Lendon herself scored a 10 minute hat-trick striking home twice from short corners and then being set up by Dyson's square pass for number six.
This Saturday Harrow hope to keep up their fine run away to Ashford Ladies but are likely to without Carys Thomas, Simone Burns and Dawn Whitmore.
Team: Fielder, Whitmore, Hilliard, Clements, Addow, Capp, Lendon, Burns, Stevens, Hockley, Dyson, Thomas.
