The fact an MEP has paid £758,000 of taxpayers' money to his wife and daughter's company in Borehamwood while acting within European Parliament regulations, has understandably raised eyebrows this week.
The spotlight may be on Den Dover this week, but if he has stuck to the rules outlined by the authority should he really be castigated?MEPs should be entitled to allowances for staff and office requirements, but once family members become involved questions will naturally be asked.With voter apathy becoming an increasing problem at elections, public confidence in politicians is in desperate need of a boost. Cases such as Mr Dover's do little to bring this around.
