The attack on Allum Lane cemetery shocked all right-minded people in the borough. There has been widespread condemnation of the barbaric actions.
Media reports of thefts from railway lines and of telephone cables are frequent, with materials stripped to be sold for melting down or scrap. But for criminals to stoop to the depths of stealing from graves is beyond compehension. The pain of the families affected is unimaginable.
The whole community must now work together with officers from the police and council to find those responsible and seek justice.
