A major road has reopened after a crash between two cars.

Barnet Lane between Deacons Hill Road and the traffic lights in Elstree was shut in both directions by police while emergency services dealt with the incident, which happened at 8.47am this morning.

The road is now open again.

Fire crews from Borehamwood and Watford were called after both vehicles, a black Volvo and a white Land Rover Sport, were reported to have smoke coming from them.

Both cars involved needed to be recovered.

Traffic was a lot heavier between Elstree and Borehamwood as a result of the closure.

A police spokeswoman says one person has been taken to hospital and the East of England ambulance service has been approached for further information.
