The organiser of a series of wrestling shows in Borehamwood believes the sport is going from strength to strength.
Chris Gladden, who has lived in the town all of his life, has been running Pro Wrestling Clash shows at 96 Shenley Road featuring a host of professional stars in a full-sized ring.
Three shows have already sold out this year and Mr Gladden, who wrestles himself, has been overwhelmed by the reaction.
He said: “I always thought people in Borehamwood would be into it but it has picked up a lot more quickly than I thought it would.
“It was a childhood dream of mine to run a promotion like this in the town and I can’t wait to see what’s to come.”
The shows feature a number of performers, including some who are currently appearing in WWE.
The former Hertswood School pupil added: “The shows are a mixture of theatre and pantomime I feel. It is family friendly. Of course some parts are serious but we try and put a bit of comedy in there as well.”
The shows usually involve six matches and the whole show runs for between two-and-a-half to three hours. Its home in Shenley Road holds up to 150 people.
Tickets are available for Pro Wrestling Clash: Clash at the Beach which takes place on August 19.
Further shows will take place in October and December.
