Tributes have been paid to a 16-year-old boy.

Oliver Leigh is believed to have died after he was hit by a train near Elstree & Borehamwood station.

It is being treated as non-suspicious and his family have been informed.

Oliver was a former pupil at Yavneh College in Borehamwood and was currently studying at JFS in Kenton, Harrow.

The head teacher at Yavneh College, Spencer Lewis, said: "We are devastated at the very sad loss of our former pupil Oliver Leigh. He was a valued member of the school and local community and our thoughts go out to his family and friends."

Oliver represented Team Maccabi GB at last year's Maccabiah Games as a goalkeeper in the under 16s Futsal Squad.

Martin Berliner, the chief executive of Maccabi GB, said: "Everyone is shocked and saddened by the tragic news of Oliver's untimely passing.

"Affectionately called Oli, he was a key member of the team and served Maccabi Great Britain with great distinction in the world games.

"This is the highest level of achievement for any amateur Jewish sportsperson.

Oliver was also a participant on the Streetwise Alan Senitt Community Leadership Programme, which works with the Alan Senitt Memorial Trust to deliver a social action community programme."

Mr Berliner added: "Our thoughts and sincere condolences are with Oli's family."
