THE injuries sustained by people falling over in Shenley Road are beyond belief.
No one expects a journey to the shops to be a dangerous event. But especially for vulnerable pedestrians such as the elderly, even a small fall can be devastating.
As well as causing injury, the effects of a fall can knock confidence and ultimately stifle independence.
Measures need to be taken to stop more people suffering the effects of a badly maintained high street.
It is heartening to see the community getting together to make a difference to the lives of people who may not have the strength to fight for change themselves.
