A date has been set for when workers hope a burst water main will be repaired.

Drivers have been facing delays for the entire month. after a main burst on the A1 slip road southbound at the junction of Rowley Lane.

The repair is a lot more complex than originally thought but Affinity Water hope to have the road re-opened by March 5.

The slip road closure has led to severe delays on surrounding routes and drivers have been forced to travel all the way down to Stirling Corner.

Borehamwood Times:

Affinity Water have taken the decision to remove 100 metres of water mains in the area after technicians found the water main to be in worse condition than first thought.

A spokesman for Affinity Water said: "We are sorry for any inconvenience caused by a burst water main on Rowley Lane, just off the A1 in Borehamwood.

"Our teams worked hard to excavate the water main, which was much deeper than usual at over seven meters below ground. This required an extensive excavation which added to the complexity of the repairs.

Borehamwood Times:

"On further investigation, our technicians found the water main to be in worse condition than expected. As a result, we have taken the decision to completely replace 100 metres of the water mains in this area. This will improve the resilience of the water network in the area and minimise unplanned interruptions in the future.

"We estimate that this work will be complete and road re-opened on 5 March.

Borehamwood Times:

"Rest assured, we are working hard to complete the installation of the new mains as quickly and safely as possible and we would like to thank customers for their patience during this time.
