The campaign for Woodcock Hill has been a lengthy one and it is hoped that a decision over its future will be reached after the public inquiry in November.
Open space like this is not just an amenity that is used for recreation and exercise but also a natural habitat for animals and plants.
To have this green area is a privilege that is often ignored because it is a free resource and people tend to take it for granted.
Let us hope that residents who want the land to be given village green status will attend the inquiry to show their support.
