Pupils came together on Monday to perform dance showcases with support from the Royal Academy of Dance.

Children aged 11 to 18 in both mainstream and special educational needs schools performed in Spring Sharings, one of 12 events as part of the Step into Dance project.

There were 140 dancers taking part in Monday’s event at Friern Barnet School, which will then be considered to be part of the Step LIVE! annual showcase at the Southbank Centre in London.

Sue Goodman, Step into Dance Artistic and Programme Director who mentored dancers for the showcase, said “The Spring Sharings have made me appreciate on how many levels our programme works – from raw beginners to special needs to pupil referral units to veterans!

“All share their work, support each other, grow in confidence and create further performance opportunities”.

Barnet schools who took part in the showcase are: Friern Barnet School, Copthall School, Lea Valley High School, St Mary's and St John's CE School, Fortismere School, Highlands School, Hampstead School, West Lea School and Hendon School.
