A community celebrated the coming of spring during a community fun day.

The event, which was organised by Elstree and Borehamwood Town Council and Aldenham Country Park, was the second community fun day held at the park.

Parking charges were waived by Aldenham Renaissance and Sullivan Buses ran a free bus service in a new shuttle to the station and back.

The Mayor and Mayoress of Hertsmere Cllr Peter Rutledge and Cllr Jane West walked around the park in the morning and met the new arrivals at the farm

Michelle Artiss, of Aldenham Country Park, said: "The day was well attended with local services and groups providing entertaining activities to brighten a damp day in Aldenham Country Playground.

"Cllr Jane West demonstrated impressive Keepy Uppy skills with Elstree Tennis Club, Writers in the Woods did some book readings for different age groups through the day and were there to chat to visitors.

"Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust brought their popular mask decorating activity again. Old Vodka were back with new flavours to try and their originals including one made with Hertfordshire honey."

Elstree and Borehamwood Town Cllr Victor Eni scooped up one of the stray Rhode Island Red hens with ease back in to her enclosure and braved the mud to meet the pregnant ewes and new lambs at the lambing shed.

Children practised skills on the popular scout climbing wall and Rolling Base activity bus came with giant chess.

Elstree and Borehamwood Town Mayor Cllr Clive Butchins and Mayoress Elaine Butchins inspected the Thomas the Tank Engine ride when meeting Phillip Green & Sons Amusements.
