A leaning stone wall has become a concern for walkers, parents and neighbours after a council has positioned wooden planks to hold it up rather than fixing it.

A stone wall, in Meadow Park, in Borehamwood, has become crooked and has begun to lean over the path causing concern for the users of the park.

Tina Tate, who photographed the leaning wall on Thursday, said: “This wall has been leaning for years and gets worse every year.

“It is being held up by the lampposts for years and a path the schoolchildren use it daily.”

Another concerned resident Simon Goddard asked who is in charge of health and safety in the park.

He said: “It is ridiculous, no barriers or warning signage. Nothing to warn of potential dangers.

“Obviously no risk assessment before, during or after raking shores put in.”

A council spokesman said: “We are aware of this situation. We’re writing to the owners of the fence asking them to take immediate action to remove the structure.

“In the meantime, temporary posts have been put in place to support the fence.”
