A prisoner has been filmed boasting about life in jail where he says he makes more money than he did on the outside by selling the drug 'spice'.

Frankie Dawson, 30, from Borehamwood, was sentenced to two-and-a-half years in November after inflicting grievous bodily harm and is currently serving time in The Mount prison in Bovingdon.

The video, which was published on Dawson's Instagram account, shows him bragging about his prison life where he reveals he makes a steady income selling spice to inmates. He also reveals he enjoys meals of steak, cheesecake and alcohol.

He says: "I'm banged up with some terrorist. They are trying to turn me but I ain't man.

"Making more money in jail than I was on road."

Spice, also known as 'synthetic marijuana' is a drug created by spraying herbs with synthetic chemical which mimic the effects of cannabis.

Dawson also goes on to suggest he may also be accessing social media from inside the prison after stating in the video: "Lamb chops, chicken, cheesecake. Have to put those pictures up."

Dawson, who is inside the Category C prison, was filmed by a fellow inmate despite it being a criminal offence to take a mobile phone into prison. These can carry a maximum of two years in prison.

He has also taken picture of himself which appear to be taken inside his prison cell.

Danielle McGuigan, from the Prison Service, said: “This behaviour is completely unacceptable. We have investigated this incident and identified the prisoner involved who will face disciplinary action.

“We are committed to making prisons places of safety and reform and are stepping up measures to find and block illegal mobile phones.

“We have a zero tolerance approach to drugs in prisons and those who break the rules will be punished and can face extra time behind bars.”

In October 2015, the Watford Observer reported inmates at the prison recorded themselves having alcohol and drug-fuelled parties inside.
