Commuters were evacuated from a Northern line train this morning when the rear carriage began smelling of smoke.
The problem emerged along the High Barnet branch of the Tube line just after 9am today (November 3) and the train was stopped at Archway.

Massive crowds accumulated on the platform as the train was emptied out.
Times Series reporter Bethan Marsh, who was on the train, said the driver suspected an “electrical fault”.
She said: “The smell of smoke was so strong I was genuinely worried when I got on the train.”
@neshevans Hi, thanks for letting us know, the train was checked and there was an unusual smell however nothing else was found.

Transport for London have confirmed the train was “defective” and it has now been taken out of service.
There were no significant delays as a result, according to TfL.
