A survey of residents travel patterns is being carried out by Hertfordshire County Council to help plan future transport provision.
From September 14 AECOM, appointed to carry out the survey on behalf of the council, will send out 12,000 questionnaires and travel diaries to a random selection of households across the county.
Responses will help the council develop the next Local Transport Plan, predict future travel demand and design transport schemes and identify transport accessibility problems.
Terry Douris, cabinet member for Highways, said: "If your household receives a survey form, please complete it to let us know what you think. You can do this either online or return it in the envelope provided."
