Future virtuosos wowed audiences at their graduation performance following a four-year scholarship programme.

In 2012, a total of 40 promising music students from all over London visited City Hall after each receiving a scholarship for the Mayor’s Fund for Young Musicians, which was set up in 2011.

Harrow students included drummer Ethan Roberts, eight, from Pinner Park Junior School, and violinist Sabrina Mbelizi, ten, from Cannon Lane Junior in Pinner.

Geeya Patel and Dean Ridley, both ten and from Heathland School in South Harrow, also received scholarships for the bassoon and trumpet respectively.

During the scholarship, the students received four hours of weekly tuition along with curriculum lessons and a mentor.

Now three years down the line, the talented students came together back at City Hall on Wednesday, July 1 to perform a specially commissioned piece in celebration of the completion of their four-year Mayor’s Music Fund Scholarship.

Composed by Danyal Dhondy the performance of ‘Get Up On Your Feet!’ was conducted by Tom Seligman and took place in front of Mayor’s Music Fund supporters and perfromers’ family and friends.

Renowned young clarinettist Julian Bliss also took part in the performance, giving a speech to the scholars and assembled guests.
