Recyclers who want to waste less visited a compositing site to see where their food and garden waste goes once it has been collected.
The 'bin slimmers' visited the West London Composting Ltd the facility on May 15, which composts Harrow Council’s brown bin waste, as part of The Rubbish Diet’s ‘Beyond The Bin’ scheme.
The trip is designed to help people understand what goes on behind the scenes in the waste industry so that it can help them make better and more informed decisions about how they recycle, reduce and reuse.
Rubbish dieter Madeleine Atkins from Stanmore said: “The trip was absolutely fascinating, I’ve learnt so much.”
