The director of a company that helps people with disabilities and mental illnesses has been nominated for an award.

Joy Chamberlain, the chief executive of Partnerships in Care, in Maxwell Road, Borehamwood, is in the running to win an award from the Institute of Directors.

The awards are sponsored by PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP and bring together company directors from a range of backgrounds.

Ms Chamberlain is a finalist in the large company director of the year category.

She said: “It is important to recognise today’s leaders in the healthcare sector, and I’m pleased to be representing Partnerships in Care (PiC) in these prestigious awards.

“Leadership is about taking people with you to do a job that is not always easy, but is almost always possible.

“I am proud that PiC’s 4,000 staff, 1,400 patients, their families, NHS commissioners and policy makers work closely together to deliver the best possible care for patients, and achieve outcomes and value for money for commissioners.”

The winners will be announced on Wednesday, April 22 at a ceremony.
