People can have their say about plans for up to 88 new flats in the town centre.

Housebuilder Taylor Wimpey is drawing up plans for the flats – which would include some affordable homes – at 12 Elstree Way, Borehamwood.

The site is currently occupied by offices that were used by Affinity Sutton housing association.

The proposed development includes the demolition of the existing office building, and in its place the construction of one, two and three-bedroom flats for both private ownership and social rented housing.

Vehicle access from Elstree Way, and open space, landscaping and parking is also included in the plans.

An exhibition at The Venue, in Elstree Way, on Tuesday November 18 will give homeowners, businesses, community groups and other interested parties the chance to find out more about the scheme and discuss the plans with the project team.

Comments received will be used to help Taylor Wimpey shape the scheme before it submits a planning application to Hertsmere Borough Council later this year.

Andy Holloway, planning manager for Taylor Wimpey North Thames, said: “Our proposed scheme is being designed to create an attractive and sustainable development that is in keeping with its surroundings, and will help to meet the need for additional high-quality housing in the local area.

“This is a good opportunity for residents to find out more about our proposals and provide their feedback on our development ahead of our planning application being submitted to Hertsmere Borough Council towards the end of this year.”

If plans are approved, Taylor Wimpey plans to make contributions towards improving community facilities and public infrastructure.

The exhibition will run from 4pm to 8pm.
