People stuck for ideas this Mitzvah Day can get their hands dirty by clearing woodland.
The Woodcock Hill Village Green Committee, in Borehamwood, will put on their wellington boots for the annual day of good deeds, on November 16.
Youth groups, town councillors, district explorers, police and PCOSs will all help out on the day.
Tasks include bramble clearing, removing ash saplings and litter picking.
The Times & Independent Series is working with Mitzvah Day organisers to encourage readers to take part in meaningful, enjoyable challenges.
If you want to win a team of journalists to volunteer with your cause this Mitzvah Day, e-mail aslater@london.newsquest.co.uk by Monday, November 3.
