Angry residents took to social media to find out what had caused loud noises across Borehamwood on Monday night.
A number of people in Hertfordshire tweeted about loud noises coming from Sopwell House hotel, in St Albans, at around 10.30pm on Monday night.
Sleep-deprived residents tweeted angrily in response to the noises, with a residents’ association stating: “A lot people in Borehamwood felt like they were being bombed.”
The luxury hotel replied to the barrage of tweets by saying: “It was a spectacular fireworks display as part of a wedding taking place here” but some Twitter users were unimpressed.
Ben Rosenthal said: “At 10.30pm on a Monday night? Ridiculous. Woke up most of Hertfordshire up.”
