Emergency services will be encouraged to work together in a new scheme backed by the county’s police and crime commissioner.

Hertfordshire police and crime commissioner David Lloyd has received £160,000 to set up a nationwide emergency services collaboration working group.

In Hertfordshire, the police and fire service already work together through community safety partnerships on anti-social behaviour prevention initiatives, safer streets campaigns and community involvement days.

The aim of the new group, which has received £160,000 from the government, is to deliver a more efficient service by encouraging colloboration between fire, police and ambulance services.

Commissioner Lloyd said: “I am delighted to get the wheels rolling on this project which I believe will help shape how the emergency services work together in the years to come.

“Greater collaboration between blue light organisations across the country will not only help drive efficiencies but also deliver a better and more effective emergency service provision for the public."

The group will be made up of representatives from the Association of Police and Crime Commissioners, the Association of Chief Police Officers, the Chief Fire Officers’ Association, the Association of Ambulance Chief Executives, the College of Policing and the Local Government Association.
