A Baptist church celebrated its 50th anniversary at the weekend with a special commemorative service.
Members of the Cowley Hill Free Church, at Stanborough Close, Borehamwood, took part in thanksgiving service on Saturday to celebrate half a century of worshipping and work in the community.
Around 130 people attended the service, which was led by former pastor Dr Peter Masters.
Church elder John Armstrong said: “It was a really wonderful day. They threatened us with thunder but the sun came out instead. Everyone had an excellent time.
“Three of the founding church members came along and joined us, which was good and it was lovely to see them.”
Originally meeting at the former Well End Village Hall and later at a house in Glenhaven Avenue, the church has moved around the town a number of times in recent years.
A new site was located in 1965, with the current building taking around eight months to complete and costing about £5,000.
