Watling Street remains closed in both directions after a serious crash yesterday evening.
A person is believed to have died after the crash involving a car and a motorcycle between Butterfly Lane and Allum Lane, the East of England Ambulance Service said.
Witnesses reported hearing an explosion and seeing a vehicle alight.
Firefighters from Borehamwood fire station attended the scene following reports of a vehicle fire, but arrived to discover the road traffic collision.
