A new laboratory will enable a Borehamwood firm to stay at the forefront of green science.

Symphony Environmental Technologies, based in Elstree Gate, provides research into biodegradable plastics.

Symphony has now gained global recognition and built the new laboratory after becoming established in more than 90 countries.

Town Mayor Councillor Pat Strack cut the ribbon at the grand opening on Tuesday, which was held as part of a three-day conference.

Speaking before the launch, deputy chairman Michael Stephens said that he felt it was a “great day” for Symphony.

He added: “When we first came to Borehamwood, we were fairly small but now have distributors from all over the world. We’re pleased to still be in Borehamwood now all our facilities have been consolidated here, and feel like a big part of the community.”
