The studios that brought us Luke Skywalker may soon give the UK with its newest celluloid superhero – Bananaman.

Bananaman, a young boy who turns into an adult superhero when he eats a banana, originally appeared in Nutty’s first issue in 1980.

The barrel-chested crimefighter has since appeared in comic books The Dandy and The Beano and had his own cartoon on children's television in the 1980s.

In conjunction with publishers DC Thomson, Elstree Studio Productions are to produce the Bananman movie for release in 2015.

For more information, keep an eye out for updates on the Bananaman website and follow #peelthepower on Twitter.
