Eeyore and Winnie the Pooh flooded out at Aldenham Country Park

Continuous torrential downpours have flooded the residents of 100 Aker Wood out of their homes.
Eeyore’s den and the Pooh Bridge are submerged and the woods have become a lake as the water levels continue to rise in Aldenham Country Park in Dagger Lane in Elstree.
The park’s community organiser Olivier Behzadi said he was thinking of renaming the gloomy donkey’s home Eeyore’s flooded place.
He said: “You can’t play Pooh sticks because the little stream, normally two feet deep, has burst its banks and become a lake and the bridge is under water, it’s five to six feet deep in places.”
The waters had been rising for a number of days and fallen branches and trees had prevented it draining into the lake.
Mr Behzadi said: “We expect Winnie the Pooh and Eeyore will be without their homes for some time as the rain continues to fall and the water has nowhere to go.
“It’s pretty grim, we’ve had to close the woods because it’s simply not safe.
“However the rest of the park is open and we’ve had a lot of visitors who are desperate to get out and enjoy brief sunny spells.”
Other parts of the borough have experienced flooding, with Radlett Station car park underwater on Friday when Radlett Brook burst its banks.
