Police in Hertfordshire are testing new squad cars fitted with tablets and touch-screen monitors.
High-speed internet access in the vehicles allows officers to access information on suspects and other road users more quickly while on patrol.
The new fleet forms part of a £3million investment in technology by the county’s police force.
Herts Police Commissioner David Lloyd said: “We will be watching with interest to see how these advancements in mobile data will help to deliver policing with even greater efficiency and effectiveness.”
