Founders of a new technical college discussed their plans with The Duke of York during a tour of Elstree Film Studios this morning.

Prince Andrew met managing director of the studios Roger Morris as well as sponsors and personnel involved in launching the Elstree University Technical College.

Elstree UTC is due to open in September and will specialise in vocational education for film, television and the creative arts.

His Royal Highness is an advocate of the University Technical Colleges initiative which provides full time, technically-oriented courses of study for 14 to 18-year-olds.

The new college will be situated close to Elstree Studios which have played a part in film and television production for more than 85 years.

Prince Andrew also chatted with Elstree UTC Principal Moira Green and film and television industry leaders from companies such as the BBC and Warner Brothers.
