Teenagers are being given the chance to become community ambassadors and help make a contribution to the area they live in.

Housing association Affinity Sutton and Groundwork Hertfordshire are looking for up to ten young people between 13 and 19 to take part in the Community Ambassador Programme.

Judie Obeya, youth engagement manager at Affinity Sutton, said: “Our goal is to maximise opportunities for our young residents on our housing developments, hear their voices and opinions, and celebrate their successes.

“The aim is to raise aspirations and achieve goals along with gaining life and social skills which are transferable throughout each youth ambassador’s professional development.”

The chosen community ambassadors will organise activities from estate tidy-ups and community events to raising awareness of issues that affect young people.

They will also have the chance to gain NVQ qualifications such as Introduction to Youth Work, as well as receive training and employment assistance from Affinity Sutton’s Ready2Work team.
