Police are appealing for witnesses following a robbery in Borehamwood.

A 16-year-old boy was walking in Eldon Avenue at approximately 6.30pm on Tuesday when he was approached by two men who asked for the time before demanding he hand over his mobile phone.

The men walked off towards Shenley Road. They are both described as being black, in their late teens to early 20s and approximately 5ft 8ins tall.

One was wearing a black puffa jacket and black tracksuit bottoms and the other was wearing a black hooded top and black tracksuit bottoms.

Detective Constable Darren Machin said: “I would appeal to anyone who witnessed what happened to contact me with information.

"The two offenders walked away calmly and so you may not have realised what had happened but if you were in the area and saw the men described I would also like to hear from you.”

Anyone with information should contact Herts Police on non-emergency number 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Poor lad- hope these thieves get caught.
Word of advice; if anyone asks you for change, directions, the time etc just walk on by. I know that this is sad and obviously use your discretion but these thieves probably asked for the time, saw it was a good mobile phone that the lad read the time from and bingo- same would have happened if he read the time from a watch. scum

This happened a few weeks ago to a young teen in Aberford park who was threatened at knife point in front of a terrified 8 year old. Also a few weeks back in front of staff in Mc Donalds in Shenley rd.Parents beware of letting your kids out with expensive phones.
Buy them a cheap one to take out with them. That way they will not be targeted by the scum bags who are roaming our once safe neighbourhood.
