A new headteacher at a Borehamwood school says he is honoured to be chosen for the role.
Spencer Lewis, currently headteacher of King Solomon High School in Redbridge, will become the new headteacher of Yavneh College, in Hillside Avenue, from September 2013.
The announcement comes as a result of the retirement of current headteacher Dr Dena Coleman, who will be stepping down at the end this school year.
Mrs Sue Nyman, Chair of Governors at Yavneh College, said: “We are delighted to have appointed such an experienced and well-qualified headteacher to assume the leadership of our flagship school.
“We look forward to seeing Yavneh College continue to flourish and be a source of pride to the Jewish community under Mr Lewis's leadership.”
Mr Lewis said: “I am thrilled and honoured to have been selected as the new headteacher of Yavneh College.
“After many happy and successful years at King Solomon High School, which I will be sad to leave, I am looking forward to the new challenge of leading one of the community’s flagship schools to even greater success in the coming years.”
Dr Coleman has been head of Yavneh College since it opened in September 2006. During her time the school has been ranked ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted and last year achieved academy status.
