North London among worst for restaurant hygiene ratings from the Food Standards Agency

London’s boroughs are some of the worst areas for food hygiene in restaurants, a new study has revealed.

North London boroughs like Harrow, Brent and Enfield are among the worst-ranking council districts in the UK, having some of the highest percentages of restaurants and cafes with low ratings.

The study, by Love My Vouchers, ranked 360 council areas in England, Wales and Northern Ireland with Newham, another London borough, having 29.2 per cent of restaurants rated zero, one or two.

Falcon Motor Accessories is run by Dave Tailor in East Barnet Road, where it has established firm roots in the community.

When the freeholder who owns the business’s premises died last year, responsibility for the property went to locally-based solicitors Parkes Wilshire Johnson.

London Underground workers plan 24 hour walkout this weekend

A 24-hour strike is planned for most zone 1 stations across London underground this weekend.

Commuters will have to re-think their travel plans as main overground interchange stations will have no Underground connections, including Victoria, King’s Cross, Waterloo, Paddington, Euston, Bank and London Bridge.

The strike is due to take place from 6pm today.

Jill Barclay's home in Briar Close, East Finchley, left without heating as Home Group waits for part

A woman living alone has been left without heating for more than a week in the middle of winter.

Jill Barclay, who lives in Briar Close, East Finchley, has not had a working boiler since Tuesday, December 27.

Her daughter Dannii, who lives in Essex, has been chasing up the matter with housing association Home Group who said they could not fix the problem until Friday (January 6).

East Barnet health centre mother-and-baby clinic announced to reopen on January 19

Mothers in East Barnet are celebrating as their long-closed local baby clinic gets an official reopening date.

After East Barnet health centre shut down for refurbishment in 2014, it reopened without its mother-and-baby clinics which forced new parents to make the awkward journey to Vale Drive in High Barnet for a similar clinic.

Following a passionate campaign by local mothers, spearheaded by a petition signed over 300 times, the clinic is set to reopen on Thursday, January 19.

Metropolitan police find driver with minor injuries after car flips in North Finchley High Road

A car flipped on to its roof after crashing into a traffic island in North Finchley.

Police were called to High Road around 11.35am on Tuesday (January 3) where they found the upside-down car.

Its unidentified male driver walked away from the crash near Friern Watch Avenue with minor injuries.
