Harlow Running Club hosted the third of four races in the East Herts and West Essex Cross Country League on Sunday morning.

The men’s team finished in third place out of four teams while the women’s team came fourth on the five-mile course between Newhall and Church Langley, with Harlow finishing third overall.

Martin Westley was the first over the line for Harlow, finishing fourth, followed by Rich Hynes in 12, Pas Blackwell in 16th, Ryan Smith in 23rd and Jason Haigh, who was 26th.

Alan Broughton then crossed over in 29th with Steve Good following in 31st along with Paul Schroder in 34th, Andy Terrell in 35th, Lee Webber in 42nd, John Bull in 49th and Bobby Draper in 57th.

Alan Cootes and Andy Smith crossed in 62nd and 63rd respectively, with Martin Elven two places behind in 65th, while the men’s finishers were rounded off by John Tennant in 69th, Graham Saville in 72nd, Mark Moulds in 75th, Robin Lozeau in 86th, Vincent Martin in 90th, Jason Pite in 100th and finally Glen Smith in 102nd.

The women’s race, meanwhile, saw Sharon Wright lead the way for Harlow in fourth followed by Allison Beeton in seventh, Carinne Jay in 12th and Fieke Blackwell in 23rd.

Also finishing for the women were Gail Nicholls in 25th, Kerry Mavris in 27th, Chris Grant in 38th, Laura Prime in 40th, Brenda Clayton in 57th and Wendy Schroder in 59th.

The club also had one contestant at the Winter Poppyline 50 Mile Ultra Marathon in Norfolk, with Darren Coates coming eighth out of 194 finishers in a time of 9:52.00

Meanwhile, at the Victoria Park 10-mile race, Danny McCree finished 10th out of 153 finishers with a personal best of 1:1.39.

Harlow Running Club members were also at the Harlow Parkrun on Saturday morning, with Colin Baker finishing first out of 61 members from the club and fifth out of 301 overall finishers in a time of 20.23.

He was followed over the line by Alan Broughton in seventh (20.54), Andy Terrell in eighth (21.31), Jamie Jephcott in 11th (21.56) and Lee Webber in 22 (23.04).

John Bull then followed in 25th (23.16) along with Paul Dixon in 34th (23.35), Paul Schroder in 38th (23.46), Bobby Draper in 39th (23.49), Andy Kitson in 40th (23.51), Steve Cowlin in 42nd (23.56) and Darren Rautenbach in 50th (24.31).

Andy Smith was next to cross the line in 51st (24.34) along with Michael Robey in 53rd (24.40), Francesca Tye in 54th (24.40), Gail Nicholls in 58th (24.50), Steve Warren in 60th (25.03), Liam Boylan in 65th (25.31) and Jim Bates in 70th (25.54).

Robert Scott then crossed in 81st (26.38) followed by Laura Prime in 97th (27.11), Danny McCree in 88th (27.12), Robin Lozeau in 97th (27.23), Spencer Brooks in 100th (27.35), Graham Saville in 101st (27.35), Hannah Wenlock in 106th (27.59) and Austin Nyamande in 114th (28.18).

Kate Babb was next in 125th (28.47) followed by Ryan Smith in 146th (29.54), Louise Peacock in 153rd (30.05), Martin Westley in 154th (30.08), Paula Miles in 156th (30.14), Tracie Cook in 164th (30.41) and Debra Monk came 166th with a PB (30.46).

Debbie Cooper then crossed in 168th (31.01), and next came Hossein Erfani in 170th (31.08), Anna Robey in 180th (32.00), Teresa Warren in 187th (32.30(PB)), Liz Roberts in 188th (32.31), Alison Bull in 189th (32.40) and Lindsey Pearson in 190th (32.41).

Next over the line was Terry Pike in 191st (32.43) along with Joanne Mills in 205th (33.50), Wendy Schroder in 206th (33.51), Helen Barrell in 210th (34.09), Peter Mills in 233rd 35.54, Melanie Harris in 238th (36.25), Marc Witham in 242nd in 36.33 and Martin Elven in 244th (37.12).

Finally, Sharon Brooks crossed in 247th (37.20) followed by Pauline Weirich in 258th (38.31), Vincent Martin in 259th (38.32), Sandra Webber in 275th (40.16), Teresa Holden in 276th (40.33), Yasmin Gregory in 281st (42.06), Karen Kitson in 283rd (42.46), Jennie Gould in 296th (53.26), Sara Coombe in 297th (53.28) and Andy Kinney in 301st (54.22).

There were also club participants at other Parkrun events, with Martyn Coulter and Louise Cootes taking part at Worthing and finishing 30th (19.00) and 189th (24.48) respectively.

Joan Waight finished 15th out of 213 (21.01) at Waltham Abbey while at Bishop’s Stortford, Jason Haigh finished 41st (22.36) out of 344 finishers, Justin Patten was 77th (24.14), Holly Davis was 88th (24.39(PB)), Paul Cadogan was 116th (25.49(PB)), and Helen Brunton was 322nd (38.18).

At Ware, Alan Cootes finished 21st out of 79 in 25.36, Hazel Kurz was 112th (26.30) out of 304 finishers at Kezgrave and Alan Welbelove was 172nd (26.47) out of 447 finishers at Cassiobury in Watford.

Finally, David Page finished 145th (27.21), Janice Page 154th (27.42) and Kelly Burgess 210th out of 346 finishers at Royston, and Teresa Stickland (28.37(PB)) and Brenda Clayton (30.14) finished 362nd and 416th respectively out of 526 finishers at Finsbury Park.
