Boreham Wood have bolstered their attack by signing prolific striker Ralston Gabriel.

The 27-year-old enjoyed a successful spell at St Albans City, scoring 12 goals during the first half of the season before briefly rejoining Haringey Borough where he netted 13 times.

Former Enfield Town striker Gabriel scored more than 30 goals for Haringey in their 2017/18 promotion winning campaign.

Gabriel told the Wood website: “I am very happy to be honest with you, it is a great opportunity to go and prove myself and show everyone what I can do.

“I have known Luke Garrard for a while and it has been positive vibes all the way through.

“I know that he has been monitoring my progress and I just felt that it was the right time for me to come here and show what I can do.”

Wood boss Garrard said: “He has got a pedigree in the Ryman Premier League that stacks up against the best and he continued that form during his time with St Albans, where he scored 12 times – four in one game.

“He is coming here with a knack of scoring goals and we have got a great platform for him. There is a fantastic infrastructure here and an environment that will hopefully allow him to flourish.”

Wood will be hoping Gabriel can hit the ground running at home to Hartlepool United on Saturday after a seven-game winless run, in all competitions, stretching back to Boxing Day.

Their latest setback came on Saturday after losing 1-0 at Maidenhead United despite the struggling hosts finishing with 10 men.

The winning goal came in the 74th minute of the contest when James Akintunde found space in the penalty area and fired past goalkeeper George Legg.

Maidenhead were reduced to 10 men late on when Harold Odametey picked up a second booking for a late challenge on Kieran Murtagh but the hosts held on to complete a frustrating defeat for Wood.

The club have confirmed their postponed home game against AFC Wrexham has been rearranged for Tuesday night.
