Police in Elstree are appealing to the public for help in tracking down a valuable necklace which was stolen between August 1 and August 7.
The necklace and pendant, which includes a 1.20 carat diamond, was stolen from a home in Cavendish Crescent.
Assistant Investigator, Kapil Pindoria, said: “The necklace is clearly of some considerable value but it was also a much-cherished family heirloom that had been handed down through the generations.
“Understandably, they are desperate to get it back, so I would appeal to anyone who knows anything about the theft or the current location of the necklace to get in touch with police as soon as possible.”
A 21-year-old woman from Stanmore has been arrested on suspicion of theft and released on police bail while investigations continue.
Anyone with information about the incident should contact police on the non-emergency number 101 quoting crime reference J1/12/2797.
Alternatively, call Crimestoppers, the independent charity, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
