A MAN was jailed for six years yesterday for robbing victims after they had withdrawn cash from banks in Wembley.

Rama Stua, 23, of Mapesbury Road, Brondesbury, was sentenced at Harrow Crown Court to six years imprisonment for six robberies.

Between January 21 last year and April 4 last year, Stua and an accomplice followed their victims after seeing them withdraw large sums of cash from banks in Preston Road, Kenton Road, Ealing Road and Kingsbury Road, in Wembley.

The accomplice would remain in telephone contact with Stua and the victim would then be attacked once they entered a quieter side road or on the doorstep of their home.

The majority of the victims were subject to physical attacks and threats. On one occasion, an 83-year-old woman had a knife put against her shoulder to make her let go of her handbag.

Stua was arrested in Wembley last July, charged with six robberies. He pleaded guilty to four robberies on October 24.

He was found guilty of the further two counts with one being reduced to theft.

Detective Sergeant Mark Fletcher, from Brent Priority Crime Unit, said Stua was part of a “violent organised team” where he was the “ring leader.”

He added: “These were cowardly attacks committed against victims who were unlikely to fight back. This is Stua’s first conviction and a sentenced of six years reflects the gravity of these offences”.
