PLANS to extend a superstore in Harrow will be discussed at a council meeting next week.

The application by Tesco, in Station Road, was deferred after Councillor Joyce Nickolay (Con, Rayners Lane), pushed for a site visit at a planning meeting last month.

The application includes a two-storey extension to the front, side and back of the store and 66 additional parking spaces, bringing the total number spaces to 452.

The parking spaces would be provided over two levels, with 220 spaces at ground level and 232 on a proposed first-floor parking deck.

The plan also includes a new four-storey building to provide additional retail space and 14 low-cost flats.

Roxborough Road Residents' Association has objected to the plans, which it claims will have an “adverse impact on the local independent traders in the town”.

Objections have also been raised from people living in Hindes Road and Hamilton Road.

The application will be discussed at the meeting on Wednesday, at 6.30pm at the Civic Centre, in Station Road, Harrow.
